From time to time, blog tours have reached out to me to host and or review books. Rarely do I say yes to a review and it’s not because I don’t like to read. Reviews can be risky business. Some are well written, but hit my trigger issues and I can’t objectively review them. Some have terrific ideas, but weak execution. As an author who struggles to get text reviews, and understands how important reviews, good and bad, are to this industry, I sometimes step out from behind my anonymous reading habit and agree to read for review.
Imy Santiago appeared on my blog in November and the concept of Chasing Reese and the promo material intrigued me enough that I requested an advanced review copy and I’m so glad I did. I love her use of dialogue. Catalina, Stryder and Jackson are a little on the coarse side, but given their professions, I’d be shocked if they didn’t curse. More importantly, they sound like real people. I laughed along side them. Given the layers of pain and heartbreak each character battled, I didn’t expect this to be a hilarious book. I’ll save my review for Goodreads. On this site, I want to share more of Imy Santiago’s terrific debut, Chasing Reese, that is one of the best indie published books I’ve read.
Imy Santiago is currently on tour with her latest release, chasing Reese. She stops by today to share it with you all.
About chasing Reese:
Everything in life is not permanent but it was perfect. Catalina Pardo had a career in journalism most people could only dream of, a hot, sexy fiancé to call her own and a brilliant future ahead of her. When tragedy struck, the life she once knew fell apart. Four years later, traumatized by the events that ultimately changed her existence, Catalina sets herself on a punishing work schedule, preventing herself from facing the demons of her grief-stricken past. Emotionally shut down, she’s alive but not living because everyone she ever loved leaves her.
Fate intervenes in Catalina’s life in the form of a last minute assignment to a snowy mountain lodge in Whistler, B.C. Sent there to cover the life of the infamous Jackson Reese; an Olympic Snowboarding Champion, she is faced with many challenges bringing to surface the raw emotions of her past. Compelled to work alongside Stryder Martynus, an award winning photographer brought in to document the Reese press tour, tensions and denial run high forcing Catalina to accept the past and face the present with zero regrets.
*Adult Contemporary Romance – Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not suitable for readers under the age of eighteen (18+).
I grab Catalina by her shoulders and push her against the door of our shared suite, my arms pinning her in place. My heart is racing a mile a minute with my sudden display of aggression. Catalina gasps loudly when I bring my mouth to the soft, silken skin of her neck. I kiss her gently, feeling her pulse throbbing against my lips.
“Don’t make fun of me, Pardo. It’s not nice,” I whisper, my nose trailing up this delectable territory of hers. I inhale her delicious scent without shame or regard. “God, you smell like candy.”
Gently removing my lips from her delicate skin I raise my head, my eyes beseeching hers. Removing one hand from the wall, I allow it to caress the skin of her jaw, my thumb tracing circles on the low of her cheek.
Catalina’s shuddered breaths fuel me further. I move in closer and feel the rising and falling of her chest with each breath she takes. Ripples of desire roll through me, my cock twitching in my pants. She looks at me, drunk with lust, and that gives me all the reassurance I need. I would never pull this stunt on just any woman because it’s the quickest way to get kicked in the balls. But my need for Catalina goes beyond all reason.
Inching closer, my nose collides with hers. Her whole body tenses, and a low moan escapes from her throat. When Catalina closes her eyes, I let out a long-drawn breath.
“You’re unraveling me, Catalina.”
Catalina nods and lets out a sigh, her breath caressing my lips. She replies softly, “And you’re breaking me.” ©2014 Imy Santiago – ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

“I was a very lucky woman to receive this book as an ARC before date of release. I shake my head in amazement. This is a debut novel? No way! The writing is descriptive and articulate. The sex scenes sizzle off the pages and almost fried my Kindle. Remember this author’s name. We shall be hearing a lot more about her! About Imy Santiago
I love to read stories about loss, heartache and redemption so it didn’t shock me when I ended up writing stories of my own revolving around those themes. I write with my heart, using my life experiences and emotions to dictate the tone and path in which my fictional characters embark. I believe in the power of friendship and to always have hope because life is always full of pleasant surprises. If you were to ask me if I consider myself an author, I would tell you no, I am not. I’m just a girl who loves to write a good story that makes you consider life choices and the darkness that envelopes a broken heart. My stories are about loss, friendship, hope and love.
I hope to continue writing more books in the not so distant future. It could be said that writing keeps me sane and brings a smile to my face. When I’m not writing Adult Contemporary Romance novels, I’m enjoying a quiet life with my family on Long Island New York.
